San Francisco County’s 129 coaches earned an average salary of $73,294 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the ninth highest average salary per county earned by coaches at California post-secondary schools during 2022.

San Francisco County is home to four post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, University of San Francisco stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $148,689.

Male coaches of men's teams received $97,490 on average in San Francisco County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $80,065.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
